Hailee’s childhood in the rural communities of Irma and Wainwright, Alberta gave her a lasting appreciation for the importance of community and hard work. In high school and during part of her undergraduate degree Hailee worked at the Wainwright Long Term Care Facility, caring for residents living with dementia and other conditions that limited their ability to care for themselves. Through this work Hailee learned how deeply it can impact someone when you simply sit with them and hear their story – a lesson she has carried into her work as a lawyer.

In 2014 Hailee graduated from the University of Alberta with distinction, having majored in English and minored in Linguistics. Her course of study honed her writing and critical thinking skills, while also reinforcing for her that language can be a powerful tool for advocacy.

At the University of Alberta Faculty of Law Hailee participated in Law Show, volunteered for Student Legal Services, and also participated in the Low Income and the Law Clinic with a placement at Edmonton Community Legal Centre. During her time at Edmonton Community Legal Centre, and through volunteering with Student Legal Services, Hailee developed an appreciation for the role lawyers can play in helping people navigate our often complex legal system.

Hailee summered and articled at Bryan & Company LLP in Edmonton, where she began her career in general litigation. Over the years a desire to help people in a more personal, focused way led her to family law, and she developed a focused family law practice at Bryan & Company LLP, before moving to Demas Schaefer Family Lawyers in 2024.

Hailee volunteers with the Edmonton Community Legal Centre, providing legal assistance to low income members of the community. She is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association Family Law North Section Executive, Alberta Family Lawyers Association Practice and Precedents Committee, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.

In her free time Hailee is an avid reader, and enjoys cooking, learning to play tennis, and exploring the city with her partner Conor and their standard poodle Ginny.
