Kyla has 15 years’ experience as a family and divorce legal assistant and paralegal. Since moving to Edmonton in 2006 from Newfoundland, Kyla has worked both in large and small practices.
She has gained significant experience while working for senior family law lawyers, assisting clients in navigating high-net-worth and high-conflict divorces and separations. This work has enabled her to hone her skills in the corporate aspects of family law such as working on corporate reorganizations, as well as incorporations and the maintenance of corporate Minute Books.
Kyla is fluently bilingual in French and English and is genuinely excited when an opportunity arises where she may use the French language when speaking with clients. Her goal is to make our francophone clients feel at ease when communicating their needs in their mother tongue.
Kyla prides herself on her willingness to learn, grow and adapt as family law and court procedures continue to evolve. Personable and attentive, she works hard to ensure that the needs of the client are well taken care of. She brings a positive energy to the office which is appreciated by clients and staff alike.
Kyla has worked as Graeme’s assistant since 2018 and in that time, they have developed a strong working relationship. Working closely together and through open communication, they have ensured that Graeme’s practice runs smoothly.
When Kyla is not at the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and twin boys, as well as her two dogs. She and her family have recently developed a love of camping, and enjoy exploring Alberta’s backyard during the summer months. She loves being active, jogging being a favourite pastime, but also appreciates the value of the occasional nap.
