Drew Sandstrom
Drew is passionate about access to justice and client service. Drew believes in zealously advocating for his clients in a cost efficient and timely manner, and he understands that clients are going through challenging times when they come to him. Drew makes every effort to support his clients through their difficult times by providing timely and effective advice and helping them navigate a complicated system. As a trained mediator, Drew can also assist individuals in coming to agreements. In his spare time, Drew enjoys reading and travelling.
Drew was born and raised in Sherwood Park, Alberta. He attended University of Alberta where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts majoring in History and Minoring in German Language and Literature. Drew went on to study at Bond University in Gold Coast, Australia, where he obtained his Criminology Post Graduate Degree and then his Juris Doctor. Drew completed practical legal training in Queensland, Australia after being called to Queensland’s Bar in 2017.
Subsequently, Drew practiced at a downtown mid-sized firm in Brisbane, Australia in employment and corporate law. Drew moved back to Canada to be closer to family beginning his legal career in Alberta in a small practice in Cold Lake, Alberta. During this time, Drew advocated in nearly every small-town courthouse in Northeastern Alberta serving the Lakeland region. Drew practiced in child welfare, child advocacy, family law, criminal law, estate disputes, and civil actions. Upon returning to Edmonton, Drew focused primarily on family law, real estate and wills & estates (estate planning).
In 2020, during the pandemic, Drew relocated to Toronto, Ontario for an opportunity and built a successful real estate practice. Once again, family called. In 2022, Drew moved back to Alberta. From 2022 – 2025, prior to joining Demas Schaefer Family Lawyers, Drew operated his own business and partnership gaining valuable business knowledge while also advocating for clients in family law and advising clients in real estate and wills & estates matters. Drew’s practice now includes mediation services, family law, real estate, and wills & estates.
