Tanya Schofield
Tanya is an experienced Paralegal and newly appointed Office Manager, bringing over 20 years of combined private practice and Court Services experience to our team. Before focusing on family law, she spent more than a decade at the Edmonton Courthouse as a Senior Judicial Clerk and non-presiding Justice of the Peace, gaining deep understanding into court processes that continue to benefit our clients today.
Her background with Alberta Court Services gives her a unique behind-the-scenes perspective. Tanya is highly skilled in navigating the Rules of Court, Practice Notes, and Courthouse procedures, allowing her to keep files moving efficiently and anticipate procedural issues before they arise.
Tanya leads our adoption practice and is known for her exceptional knowledge of direct placement and step-parent adoptions, as well as the Court’s procedural requirements. She also drafts court materials, meets with clients, manages deadlines, and helps ensure files progress smoothly.
In her new Office Manager role, Tanya supports the firm’s operations, culture, and internal systems while continuing her paralegal work. Resourceful, adaptable, and unfailingly kind, she is someone the team relies on both professionally and personally.
Outside of work, Tanya enjoys spending time with her family, keeping active, and is forever working her way through an endless stack of books. A longtime lover of Golden Girls and Friends, Tanya also shares her knowledge with future professionals by co-teaching the Family Law course in MacEwan University’s Paralegal Studies program, where she teaches Court procedure.
