Tanya Schofield
Tanya is an experienced legal assistant and paralegal. Prior to going into private practice, Tanya was a Senior Judicial Clerk at the Edmonton Courthouse where she had over 10 years' of traffic, criminal, and family law experience.
Tanya also served as a non-presiding justice of the peace during this time. Tanya then transitioned into private practice where she worked as a legal assistant at a prominent Edmonton law firm, where she first began working with Sean Schaefer. Shortly after first working together both Sean and Tanya left to focus entirely on family law.
Tanya's experience with the Alberta Courts has provided her with unique insight into the litigation process. Tanya is well-versed in the procedural aspects of family law and is often able to expedite matters due to her strong grasp of the rules of court, practice notes, and internal procedures of the courthouse which remain in place today.
Tanya specializes in adoptions and leads our adoption section. No one has more knowledge about what the Court is (or is not) looking for in a direct placement adoption than Tanya. Tanya is also well versed in all aspects of divorce and family law, which is her primary area of work.
Personable and kind, Tanya is always willing to go the extra mile for clients going through personal challenges. Tanya prides herself on being responsive and knowing what clients may need, even when they may not know themselves.
In her spare time Tanya enjoys spending time with her family, binge-watching Golden Girls or Friends, and powerlifting. Tanya is incredibly well-rounded and versatile and is one of the genuinely nicest people you will have the opportunity to speak with. We are proud to have Tanya as a key part of our team.
